Apart from being a wonderful source of social history, covering the coming of the railways, the arrival of the Mormons, the introduction of music to churches, etc., the book is a most entertaining read. The author died on the RMS Lusitania when it was sunk by a torpedo from a German U-Boat off the coast of Cork in 1915.
